On the ground floor, minerals and fossils are displayed, particularly from the former Fürstenberg territories. The collection was established in the 18th century, initially to document the princely mines in the Kinzigtal and the Black Forest.
On the first floor, you will find the extensive natural history collection of the house. Here, you can admire numerous scientific specimens, most of which are around 150 years old.
The second floor is dedicated to “Fürstenberg Contemporary,” the collection of contemporary art created by Prince Christian and Princess Jeannette zu Fürstenberg.
The Fürstenberg Collections were established in 1868 by Prince Karl Egon III. in the former manorial tithe barn. The museum’s setup on the two lower floors still dates back to the time of construction and is now protected as a historical monument.
Guide to the Natural History Collections by Renate Küppers-Fiebig (PDF) . The guide can be purchased at the museum’s ticket office or at the F.F. archive as a printed version.
